It’s time for another Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop! Since the weather outside has been frightful,
not cold but hot, hot, hot - anyway, that’s the way it has been here in Oregon –
we thought we’d cool it down a bit with a Christmas project. Yep, a Christmas in July project! Not only that, but we will be sharing a CASE
from the new catalog and a project using a new punch.
Before I share my projects with you I want to remind you
this is a circular hop. That means that
wherever you begin, if you continue to go to the “next” person on the list, you
will eventually wind up right where you first started. You will find the
“next” button (and the “previous” button - if you want to go backwards) at the
end of this post. The “home” button will
give you a listing of all participating blogs.
I hope you'll take time to look at all our blogs.
If you’ve been moving forward through the blog hop you have arrived here after enjoying some fabulous projects created by Deborah Smart. Deborah always amazes me with her talent!

Christmas in July
Let’s go ahead and get things cooled off with a Christmas card. I don’t think it’s ever too early to get Christmas cards made since the month of December always seems to be packed with activities, leaving hardly any time to really enjoy creating.

This card features the photopolymer Wondrous Wreath set from Stampin’ Up! along with the Wonderful Wreath Framelits. I’ve also used the “Merry Christmas” from the White Christmas photopolymer set.
After stamping Merry Christmas in Cherry Cobbler I fussy cut the banner and then attached it over the wreath. The green and black banner piece was created using a piece of DSP from the Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper and applying Pear Pizzazz ink over it with a sponge.
CASE From the
2015-2016 Annual Catalog
Stampin’ Up!’s annual catalog is filled with beautiful
projects that are easily CASEd and I had a hard time deciding which project to
share with you. After much deliberation
I decided on a simple card featuring the Watercolor Wings stamp set found on
page 75 of the catalog. For this card I
needed only the Watercolor Wings stamp set.
I love the fact that this set has several greetings to choose from.
This card was made in a matter of minutes, EXCEPT, there was the tying of the Gold Metallic Thread. My fingers struggled with getting the bows made! Slippery stuff! Of course mine did not turn out like the example in the catalog!

Since I prefer cards that are a step up, I also created
this card. I stamped the same images on a Whisper White piece it is just a half inch smaller
all around. Notice how just adding a couple of layers to the card changes
the overall appearance.
A New Punch
It was interesting for me to look back at the cards I’ve made over the years. Very few are what I would call playful, so when this card came together I was excited! The card still has a lot of details, and I like details!
There have been a lot of samples I’ve noticed on the Internet using the Sprinkles of Life and the Tree Builder punch, but I had not shared one with you yet.

To create this card you will need Real Red, Always Artichoke, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake, and Soft Suede card stock. (I used scraps for everything but the card base.)
- Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 10 ½” x 4” and score at 2 ½” and 5 ¼”
- Cut a piece of Real Red card stock 5 ½” x 4 ¼”.
- Cut a 2 ¾” piece and a 2 ½”piece of Daffodil Delight. Using the Decorative Dots Textured Impression Embossing Folder, dry emboss the 2 pieces of Daffodil Delight Card stock.
- Stamp a bunch of apples on a strip of Real Red card stock (How’s that for technical instructions?!) and then punch them out with the Tree Builder punch.
- Stamp the basket using Soft Suede ink onto Crumb Cake paper.
- Stamp two candles using Soft Suede ink onto Crumb Cake card stock. Cut out, omitting the flame on the candle. Glue both pieces to basket.
- Using the appropriate shape from Chalk Talk Framelits die cut a piece of Whisper White card stock.
- Using the same shape you cut the Whisper White piece out with, trace around the outside edge of the die with a pencil onto Real Red card stock and then fussy cut out the shape. Glue the Whisper White piece onto the Real Red piece.
- Using black ink stamp the “Thanks a Bunch” from the Sprinkles of Life set onto the Whisper White piece you just cut out .
- Adhere the basket and apples to the Whisper White piece. (I did adhere some apples with Stampin’ Dimensionals for added depth.)
- Using Soft Suede ink and card stock, stamp the tree trunk and punch out.
- Using the Soft sued ink and Always Artichoke card stock, stamp the tree leaves three times and punch out.
- Position and adhere the tree onto the Whisper White card base inside portion.
- Stamp the flower stems using Always Artichoke ink on both sides of the tree.
- Stamp the flowers above the stems using Daffodil Delight and then Real Red ink.
- Using Soft Sky ink stamp clouds above the tree and across the inside portion of the card.
- Sponge Soft Sky ink along the top portion of the inside portion of the card.
- On a ½” x 4” piece of Whisper White card stock randomly stamp Daffodil Delight and Real Red flowers.
- Adhere the 2 ¾” piece and 2 ½”piece of dry embossed Daffodil Delight pieces to the Whisper White card stock appropriately. Note: In theory the 2 ½”piece should fit perfect, but I found I had to trim it a bit.
- On the outside edge of the front 2 ½”piece of Daffodil Delight card stock adhere the ½” x 4” piece of Whisper White that was stamped with flowers.
- Adhere the piece with the apples and basket to the front Daffodil Delight 2 ½” piece, centering it with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Adhere two apples in the lower corner of the front Daffodil Delight piece.
- Adhere the Whisper White card base to the Real Red card base.
Great projects, Marie! That metallic thread is kind of fussy to work with - but it's so pretty!
ReplyDeleteMarie, your projects are fabulous! All the little fussy cutting that little banner - you're amazing. And I just love your fun fold and basket you made with the Sprinkles of Life set - I hope you don't mind if I CASE that one!
ReplyDeleteOh Marie your projects never disappoint. Honestly the clarity of your stamping just makes your cards stand out. The banner goes so perfectly on the Wondrous Wreath, Kudos to you for the fussy cutting! Amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love both of your renditions of the CASED card, but truly the stepped up version wins out. The colour mix for the mats is perfect. And finally I think your punch card is my favourite. Simply a wonderful card. Thanks for sharing.
Marie, These are wonderful projects. Guess I would have to say that the Christmas card is my fav, although the butterfly card is a close favorite.
ReplyDeleteI love all your cards! The Christmas card is my favorite though, I love the banner with wreath! Great Cards!
ReplyDeleteCombining the two sets for the Christmas card is perfect.
