Welcome to another inspiring Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop! This month we are featuring products you will find in the new 2015-2016 Stampin’ Up! annual catalog. Stampin’ Up! has fabulous stamps sets that will make you smile and go “oh” and “ah”, beautiful new designer series papers to add to your wish list, new in colors, kits, and the list goes on. They have also carried over some great products from last year’s catalog that I am so happy to see again since I didn’t get some of them last year.
Before we get started, I just want to remind you this is a circular Blog Hop. That means that wherever you begin, if you continue to go to the “next” person on the list, you will eventually wind up right where you first started. You will find the “next” button (and the “previous” button – if you want to go backwards) at the end of this post. The “home” button will give you a listing of all participating blogs.
If you’ve been moving forward through the blog hop, you have arrived here after enjoying the fabulous projects created by the ever so talented Christine Guida.

This first card features the Build a Birthday stamp set. I wasn’t sure if I was really going to like this set at first. Once I got it in my hands and saw the possibilities, I was hooked. What I like about this set is it will be one that I can make a fast, simple birthday cards with. Rather than making this card simple by stamping a single layer, I stamped the images five (5) times each; hand cut the images, and then layered them. I decided to save the fast, simple stamping until later!
The crosshatched stamp in the You’ve Got This stamp
set is going to be one of those go to stamps for many of my creations. It makes a fabulous backdrop, and stamping it
multiple times allows you to make a distinctive background. I chose to stamp the crosshatched stamp
behind the Hexagon Hives Thinlits die to add interest on this next card. The
flower has been stamped multiple times and cut out, then layered, to add dimension. (Had to get some fussy cutting in!)
The butterfly was stamped on white card stock and also on vellum, punched out and layered.

I found a color combination (Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie) on Pinterest that I really liked and just had to make a card using the color combination that I want to share with you. I used three sets that were carryovers from last year’s catalog, Blended Bloom, Flower Patch, and Trust God on this card. If you haven’t had a chance to purchase these sets, don’t wait because you won’t be disappointed once you have them in your hands!
After masking off a portion of the card stock, I sponged Pumpkin Pie over the remaining portion. The flower was embossed with gold embossing powder prior to coloring.
Ready for a vintage card?
When talking with a friend the other day, she mentioned she has been doing a lot of water coloring on her cards. Inspired by our talk I decided to make a watercolor background for my next card. Of course I needed to use another new set, and keeping with the watercolor theme, I used Watercolor Wings!
What’s wonderful about the Watercolor Wings stamp set is it coordinates with cutting dies! For those of you who don’t like fussy cutting the Bold Butterfly Framelits and Butterfly Thinlits is a must have.
The butterfly on this card was stamped and looked like this before I die cut it out. The transformation is awesome!
Here’s how I made the background:
- I spritzed the watercolor paper lightly with water.
- Using the flower stamp and leaf stamp from Choose Happiness. I stamped the images multiple times. Colors used were Melon Mambo and Old Olive.
- Next I sprayed more water on the card so the ink would move and blur the images.
- After the images were dry I sponged ink lightly over the paper. Colors used were Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz and Soft Suede.
Well fellow stampers that’s it for now. Thank you so much for stopping by. Please leave a comment, I love to hear from you.

As always Miss Marie you've blown me away with your gorgeous creative designs and shared information. I knew it was going to be a great post when I saw the Build a Birthday card and said...Wow...as my jaw dropped. A clean and simple design with a lot of impact. Can't wait to CASE it. Same with your brilliant idea for the honeycomb background for a flower and the vintage card...let's just say...it's now at the top of my CASE list. I'm loving new or new to me ideas for watercolor and inking techniques. Thank you my dear for leading off the hop with style and verve!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jean! The Build a Party card was a change for me. I have a tendency to get too busy with my cards, so something clean and simple felt good to do. Watercolor is such a fun technique - enjoy playing!
DeleteI can't stop looking at the watercolour card! So, so beautiful. And that butterfly - I can't decide if I like the un-cut version or the cut out version better. Great colours!
ReplyDeleteThe butterfly was so much fun to play with. I actually played with several colors for it and made others for future use. the Watercolor Wings set is going to get some use at my house!
DeleteAll your projects are CASE worthy, now I have to order some stamps not on my list. ;)
ReplyDeleteKath, I look forward to see what you make with these sets. I seem to always end up needing more stamps after our hops too!
DeleteMarie all of your projects are so beautifully done and described, and the photography just adds a whole new dimension. I really like how you've worked with the white space in your You've Got This card. The images look so fresh and crisp. I'm also enamored with the watercoloured card. Breathtaking! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Penny. The You've Got This Card was one I actually wasn't sure I should share. I had a hard time with the "flat" color look it had. So glad it looks fresh and crisp.
DeleteWow - just, wow! Incredible projects, all of them, Marie! I can't decide which one I should 'case' first! Okay - no more exclamation points - but really - wow. Thanks so much for sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the kind remarks Deb. I am so honored you would want to CASE them.
DeleteBeautiful, Marie. Your projects are all beautiful. I especially love the watercolor card, but then I am partial to watercolor. I will be playing with your technique. Great job.
ReplyDeleteChristine, I am partial to watercolor too. I don't know why I don't make more cards using this technique. Thank you so much for your remarks.
DeleteMarie, your projects are absolutely beautiful!! Your unique backgrounds really make these projects. The watercolor background with butterfly is so beautiful. I also love the You Got this card very much!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jackie. I love to try and make my own backgrounds. I buy the DSP and then it sits on the shelf. My goal is to try and use the DSP more often - we will see if that happens!
DeleteMarie, your cards are so very unique! Your "You've Got This" card is one of the best I've seen using this set! I love ALL your cards...thanks for sharing them with us.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. Like I said to Penny, I almost did not post the You've Got This card - so happy you like it.
DeleteLovely projects, Marie! I love the backgrounds. I've never been happy with anything I've done with the Hexagon Hives thinlits - but I LOVE how you used it. Definitely CASEing.
ReplyDeleteThe Hexagon Hives thinlits has been a challenge for me too. I'm glad you like what I did. Happy CASEing!
DeleteGreat projects, Marie! That Watercolor Wings is at the top of my next order.
ReplyDeleteMarsha, I think we will all be a little poorer because of this hop. There were SO many outstanding projects! Thanks for your comments!
DeleteLove your color combos, Marie; the Pumpkin Pie with Melon Mambo is terrific. But I really like how you used Hexagon Hives with You've Got This--such a great card!

ReplyDeleteThanks Heidi. The Watercolor Wings card was fun for me to make. You never know how the water will move the ink, so each time the end result is a surprise! Glad you are feeling well enough to spend some time hopping today!
