Welcome to another Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop! Stampin’ Up! announced their retirement list
and many of us are singing the “retirement blues”. We will be sharing some of the products we
will miss the most.
Before we get started, I just want to remind you, this is a

Before I start singing the blues, I want to share a card I made for two of my grand kids. They will be graduating from pre-school this coming
week-end. I can’t believe how quickly
they are growing up! I thought it would be
fun to make them a “graduating” card and wanted to make it age
appropriate. I love to look for ideas on
Pinterest and found many using the owl punch.
I love the little vest the owl wears and he really does look smart
wearing glasses!

Since I’m singing the blues, I decided to a use a beautiful blue,
Coastal Cabana, as the primary color for my next card. I’m sorry to see this fabulous color retire. I’ve used several retiring
products on this card. Stippled Blossoms
and Itty Bitty Banners are retiring stamp sets.
Also retiring are the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder and the Coastal Cabana
Thick Baker’s Twine.
To achieve the two-tone color on the large butterfly, I rocked the stamp
on a Coastal Cabana ink pad after I inked the stamp with Daffodil Delight.
Fussing cutting is so relaxing for me. I like to stamp all the images I need to cut for
my card and then sit on the sofa and cut them out. And, since it’s been awhile since I’ve been able to create, I wanted to make a card with a lot of cutting
involved! Don’t you love the layers and depth
they add to the flower? Another great
stamp set slated for retirement - Regarding Dahlias.
I can honestly say I am singing the blues over this next stamp set
that is retiring. Perfect Blend is such
a fun stamp set that is featured on this card.
Almost everyone I know drinks coffee, and I have used this stamp set for
making some fabulous gift card holders.
This is one set I am thankful to have on the shelf.

Glad you are able to do fussy cutting again Marie! I do the same thing and find it relaxing. Love the Stippled Blossom and Perfect Blend - two of my favourites also!

Great combination of stamps, colours and layouts. Thanks so much for sharing your talents, especially the fussy cutting!

ReplyDeleteI am seeing so many Stippled Blossoms card, which I never purchased. Now wondering if I should before it is gone.
I love these, Marie! The stacked books with the Word Window Punch and owl- too cute. So glad they're not retiring, because I have to use that idea. And, of course Stippled Blossoms and Perfect Blend are two that I'm really sad about. I love what you did with them!

ReplyDeleteHi Marie, thanks so much for continuing to be part of this wonderful blog hop. I bought the Stippled Blossom just a few weeks before the retiring list came out and was doubly upset since it was gone before it had even seen ink. I love your creation, Marie, and hope to give my stamp a bit of action before it is officially retired. Mind you, I suspect I'll continue to use it as time goes on despite its retirement. I love the colours in your Regarding Dahlias card. I wouldn't have thought to mix them but love their effect. This is where seeing each others' creations is such an inspiration and eye-opener. You've made some wonderful cards, Marie, and I agree---I'll miss all those products as well.
