Wacky Watercooler October Blog Hop

Originally posted on October 23, 2014

Welcome! I’m excited to have you stop by the Wacky Watercooler October Blog Hop! We have some very talented people participating again this month and I know you will have fun seeing all the amazing projects. This month you will see Thanksgiving and Christmas projects to inspire you this holiday season.

Remember, this is a circular Blog Hop.  That means that wherever you begin, if you continue to go to the “next” person on the list, you will eventually wind up right where you first started.  You will find the “next” button (and the “previous” button – if you want to go backwards) at the end of this post. The “home” button will give you a listing of all participating blogs. I hope you’ll take time to look at all our blogs.

For many of us getting ready for the holidays can be overwhelming at times. Personally, I have to start playing with Christmas stamp sets now, or I will not have them done in time to get them in the mail!

My first card was created using the White Christmas and Holiday Home sets from Stampin’ Up!  I love the dimension the Lucky Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder added to the Whisper White card stock.   The house was colored with the Smoky Slate Assortment of Blendabilities.

For the moon:  I used silver Glimmer Paper to create the glittery moon – cut out with one of the Circle Collection Framelits. I also cut the same size circle out of a Window Sheet (acetate) and then stamped Santa and his reindeer on to it. Next, I adhered the circle cut from the Window Sheet with Crystal Effects at the bottom of the circle and added a little behind the image. The Crystal Effects really did not show where it was applied.

I have always liked images of pine sprigs. To me they are perfect for a Christmas card. This card was easy to make and I had a great deal of enjoyment coloring the bauble with Blendabilities.

How to make this card.
  • Cut a piece of 5 ½” x 8 ½” and fold in half to make a 5 ½” x 4 ¼” card and set aside for later.
  • Stamp the Christmas Bauble on to a piece of 3 ½” x 3 ¾” Whisper White card stock.
  • Color the bauble with your choice of Blendabilities, markers, or colored pencils.
  • Cut out the bauble image and set aside for now.
  • Gently swipe the Embossing Buddy over the 5 ¼” x 4” Whisper White card stock (card face).
  • Stamp the pine branch on to a Whisper White 5 ¼” x 4” card stock with VersaMark ink.
  • Apply white Stampin’ Emboss Powder embossing powder and heat set with heat tool.
  • Sponge Pear Pizzazz ink on to the Whisper White car stock around and over the pine branch image to achieve desired look.
  • Wipe off excess ink from pine branch image with tissue or paper towel.
  • Optional step – color the embossed pine needles using the Old Olive Assortment of Blendabilities and branch portion with the Dark Crumb Cake Blendabilities Marker. For the needles -start with the darkest marker at the center and blend the lighter colors out.
  • Adhere the Christmas Bauble to the Whisper White card stock to achieve the appearance that the bauble is hanging from the branch.
  • Stamp “Greetings” from the Endless Wishes set on to the Whisper White card stock
  • Adhere the card face to the Old Olive card base.

I wanted to make a 3D item for my next project and fully intended to use the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits Die, but I couldn’t make up my mind on what to do! So…I have had this next little project on my mind for quite some time and really enjoyed the results of my efforts. These little boxes will definitely have a place around the house with my other Christmas decorations!

These cute little boxes were made with the Gift Box Punch Board from Stampin’ Up! They are the smallest size listed on the punch board – 1.75 x 1.75 x 1.75. The letters were cut out with the Little Letters Thinlits. I used Curly Label Punch and various stamps from White Christmas, Endless Wishes, and Holiday Home to decorate the boxes.

I hope you liked my creations.  Please leave a comment to let me know you were here – I love reading your messages!  Thanks for stopping by!  If you don’t have a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and would like to order any of the items I shared, please visit my online store here
