Welcome to the Wacky Watercooler The Best of… Blog Hop. I’m so excited to have you see all the amazing projects we have to share this month!
We each have chosen what we felt was one of the best of one of our peers’ posts, and then we CASE (copy and share everything) the project. Each of us will also share our favorite retired Stampin’ Up! product or stamp set and a best of from the current Stampin’ Up! products.
Remember, this is a circular Blog Hop. That means that wherever you begin, if you continue to go to the “next” person on the list, you will eventually wind up right where you first started. You will find the “next” button (and the “previous” button – if you want to go backwards) at the end of this post. The “home” button will give you a listing of all participating blogs.
If you’ve been moving forward through the blog hop, you’ll just have seen the wonderful creations by the very talented Priscilla Ivler from California.
I know you’ll enjoy seeing all the other blogs too. Happy hopping!

Best of Peer Post…
I am sharing a card made by Stefanie Pletscher. Stefanie is the gifted and talented artist at The Crafty Medic blog. I fell in love with this fall card she made for our September, 2014 Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop. I can image a windy day with the leaves flying through the air and some of them blown up against a fence and gathered with pumpkins when I look at this card. Oh how I love the days of autumn!
The gold Glimmer Paper really adds pizzazz to this card don’t you think?
Here is my CASE on this card. I stayed with the layout of the card and chose to use stars in place of the leaves and pumpkins and silver Glimmer Paper instead of gold.
Best of Retired…
This was a difficult decision to make when it comes to picking a favorite retired stamp set. I have so many that it is embarrassing! I just can’t get myself to part with any of them, because they are all so awesome! But alas, I made a decision to use a winter theme and decided Winter Post from Stampin’ Up! was my choice. The set has some great stamps in it so I had to make another hard decision of which one to choose. The skater stamp won out!
I took several pictures of this card. I was trying to capture the beauty of the silver foil paper.
To make this card
- Using the Northern Flurry embossing folder, emboss the silver fold sheet and add it to the card base.
- Hand cut a piece of Lost Lagoon for a narrow banner. (the width of the one I cut was 1 ¼”) Adhere to silver foil layer.
- Using the largest die from the Banner Framelits Dies cut the silver Glimmer Paper banner. (I made mine about an inch longer than the die) Adhere over Lost Lagoon banner.
- Stamp the trees from Lovely as A Tree on Whisper White card stock or water color paper and die cut it out with a Deco Labels Collection Framelits.
- Next water color the sky and ice on the tree piece and let dry.
- Using VersaMark ink, stamp the flourish image from the Everything Eleanor set, sprinkle silver embossing powder over stamped image, and heat set with heat tool.
- Using a two-way glue pen, lay down a thin layer of liquid adhesive. Sprinkle on Dazzling Diamonds glitter. Shake off excess.
- Traced along the outside of the same size Deco Label Framelit used to cut the tree piece out with to create a Lost Lagoon layer to adhere the tree piece to.
- Stamp and color the skaters, then cut the image out and adhered it to the “tree” piece.
- Adhere Deco Label focal point over silver Glimmer Paper banner.
Best of Current Stampin’ Up! products…
I’m not sure why I waited so long to get the Festival of Trees set. In the beginning I really didn’t think I liked it, but then I saw so many cute cards made with it. Now that I have used the set I can see why so many others have fallen for this set.
This was my first attempt at making an easel card. Another one of those “why did I wait so long” thoughts! I really enjoyed making this style of card and I know I will be making more.
Well, that’s it for now. I hope you liked my creations. Please leave a comment to let me know you were here – I love reading your messages!
