Petite Petals

Originally posted by July 19, 2014

Growing up my mom had hydrangeas in her flower bed. I have always liked them.  I have a beautiful hydrangea on my deck and the blooms are a vivid Melon Mambo color which inspired this card.

This card does not have hydrangeas but it does have flowers! I used the Petite Petals set to make the flowers and just love them. The Olive Green embellishments are made with Crystal Effects.

Today I will share the steps I took to make the card and how to make the Crystal Effects embellishments. The card is actually a simple card to make; it just has lots of little steps!

Prior to making the card make your embellishments.

How to make the colored Crystal Effects embellishments.
  1. Drop Crystal Effects onto a silicone craft sheet. You can make the drops any size you’d like!
  2. Let dry. Drying time depends on size of drop.
  3. Once dry, color with Blendabilities and let dry for a few seconds.
  4. Pop off the silicone craft sheet and apply to card!
How to make the card.
  1. Stamp the 5 ¼ x 4 inch piece of Whisper White paper with Smoky Slate ink using the Dictionary stamp.
  2. Stamp the flourish stamp from Everything Eleanor using Old Olive ink.
  3. On a piece of Whisper White paper stamp four flowers using Petite Petal stamp set in Eggplant Envy ink and four flowers in Melon Mambo.
  4. Punch out the flowers using the Petite Petal punch.
  5. Sponge the punched out flowers with Eggplant Envy and Melon Mambo ink.
  6. Curl the flower edges with your bone folder.
  7. For the leaves you will be doing the two-step technique. You will use the two large leaves stamps from the Stippled Blossom Stamp. Stamp the leaves six times in Old Olive on Whisper White paper. (note: The solid leaf image is second generation)
  8. Cut out the leaves. Yep! Cut out, no thinlit or punch.
  9. Stamp the greeting “hello sweet friend” from the Six-Sided Sampler set onto Whisper White paper.
  10. Cut the greeting in a banner shape. (My banner was 5/8 “ x 2”)
  11. Sponge the greeting banner with Melon Mambo ink.
  12. Punch out 3 flowers in Eggplant Envy paper and 3 in Melon Mambo paper using the flower punch from Itty Bitty Accents Punch-Pack.
  13. Assemble the flowers and leaves onto the card.
  14. Adhere Pearl Basic Jewels to the center of the flowers.
  15. Adhere the colored Crystal Effects embellishments with Crystal Effects on to the card.
  16. Adhere Whisper White piece to 5 ½ “ x 4 ¼ “ piece of Eggplant Envy.
